Bob Baldwin – Lookin’ Back (2009)

Bob Baldwin's looking back at some great music here -- range of tracks pulled from albums of the past decade or so, with some surprising extra bits thrown in for good measure! The set's a perfect illustration of Baldwin's mighty keyboard powers -- that groove that's smooth, but never too slick -- always with more than enough bite to catch our interest, and to keep Bob from sliding into the overly-commercial side of the soul fusion spectrum! Instrumentation on most numbers is relatively stripped-down, and Baldwin gets some help on the set from saxophonists Marion Meadows and Nelson Rangell -- and singers who include Will Downing, Toni Redd, and James Crab Robinson.
