The Blak's Lair Family presents Smooth-N-Swingin' [EXCLUSIVE] (2009)

There was once a time where REAL music was played on the urban radio. This was around, well, this was pretty much before Y2K. Urban radio stations and "video jockeys" at BET and MTV actually played this music and it was once considered "cool."

This throwback compilation presented by The Blak's Lair Family pays homage to the R&B songs played in the late 1980's and 1990's, around the time of the "new jack swing" era. This flavor of R&B fuses the rhythms, samples and production techniques of hip-hop with the urban contemporary sound of R&B.

The first CD (Smooth) is a 16-track sampler of the smooth R&B sounds with a more laid back vibe. The second CD (Swingin') is 16 tracks of a more uptempo vibe of the new jack swing flavor!

We tip off our hats to The Blak's Lair Family for paying homage to this era of great music, and to a time period that would unfortunately lead to the demise of REAL music on urban radio and television shows, causing people like Joaquino to join the masses in a boycott of urban radio stations, BET and MTV.
