Over the course of this year the staff has worked feverishly to discover new artists and expose the viewers to music which would perhaps otherwise remain covered in the shadows of obscurity. Furthermore, a lot of people have become overwhelmed with the myriad of genres that are showcased here, and have a very difficult time determining where to start here.
In answering these users' requests, the Blak's Lair Family spent several hours combing through all the featured blog postings in hopes of creating a solid compilation among the the staff members' favorite songs from all the albums released and featured here in 2008. Through their tireless dedication and deliberation, the staff emerged victorious with this compilation of some of the best underground and international grooves of 2008.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Blak's Lair Family proudly presents their first exclusive digital compilation as a collective, Blak Gold 2008. Neophytes and veterans of this blog are welcome to join the Family as they take the listener through 3-1/2 hours of hella dope tracks from some of the finest artists and musicians in the world!
Between Blak Gold 2008, Blak Heat and The Joaquino Soulections (RIP); one should be able to get a really good feel for the type of music that is featured here and have a much better understanding of why the staff members loathe mainstream urban radio today. Be warned, for once you take a really good listen to these songs, you won't want to bother with the AMA's or the Grammys anymore. Remember, you've been warned...
This is the first time the staff has attempted an effort of this magnitude, so please leave feedback in the comments and tell the staff what you think.

Wonderful compilation. I see some of my favorites are included in the set. Thanks so much for the work you have done with music and bringing it faithfully to our music hungry ears. More people need to check out what is on the other side of mainstream radio. Now I am going to enjoy the this throughout the rest of day and take a musical interlude.
Thank you for the comp and thank you for your fantastic efforts this year on your blog, big respect to you guys, long may it continue throughout '09. I'd have included 'Reaching Out' from the Nash Reed set tho'! :) Peace and love, Dints
What a fantastic set-if this doesn't open your ears nothing will.
Booyah...!!!

Thanks guys for your tremendous effort and hard work throughout 2008 - you have introduced me to so much new music this year, which I would otherwise never have heard and for that I am eternally grateful.
Wishing you a great Christmas day and good health, happiness and peace in your lives throughout 2009 and beyond.
Much respect to my soulful friends in cyberspace.
Love to you all
Liz from London, England
musch respect from GGC member Vlada Stojanovic. Thanks for a lot of great music.jeep up with great work
Happy Holiday to all the BLF members and readers! This comp is a wonderful idea and a very good way to wean people off that mainstream garbage that is being presented to us via radio/televison today. Programing directors suck, lable execs suck and most major artist just do what their told. Due to all that the music is what suffers and no everyone is shocked that not many artists can move units. Welcome to the other side...the good authors of this blog have given us selections to preview to enhance our musical interest and peak our curiosity towards things other than what major marketing strategies have force feed us. Thank you good people of the BLF for the musical education that was 2008 and here's looking forward to what's in store for 2009!
"IT'S A MERRY CHRISTMAS, AFTER ALL"!!!!!!

I'm telling you that you guys have astounded me with the same vibes that we have in terms of music. It makes me smile each and every time and I swear to you it's rare to find people with like-minded vibes this day and age in music. The fact that 2000 Black, Ivana Santilli, Foreign Exchange and Incognito are in this collection just at first glance is enough to put your site near the top of my list from now on.
Keep on doin' it! You have a big fan in me.

Gracias!!!
I don't know how you guys do it, but thank you so much for all that you have done! I feel as if this blog is exactly what I've been looking for my entire life.
So far, as I expected, dopeness. Cd1I'm diggin the whole vibe. In particular Full of Harmony, Caretta Bell and Feet. 8.5/10
cd 2 is even better. This one could be played all the way thru. Jazznovation is a must have along with M Swift. The N.Gourdin track was awesome. 9.0/10
cd 3 has a smoother vibe, which is what I REALLY dig. The tracks by RF, Rurals and Spur OTM were ridic. Smoother vibe=9.5/10. Awesome work guys!!
thanks LORD BLAK ,and crew for the wonderful compilation!!!!!

A definative all winners comp for 2008 selection here guys. Especially like The Invaders 'Blow' & Jose James 'Park Bench People' Both are in my Top 10 for this year. One minor point didn't Kaori Kobayashi / Sunset Ocean come the 2005 LP Solar? Fantastic stuff!
LB and Blak's Lair Family, happy new year. Thanks for bringing the heat this year. Thanks for helping my site expand. I look forward to the coming year and with any luck the Heat from the site will keep away the snow this winter. You guys are totally awesome!!!
Thank you all for leaving comments about Blak Gold 2008 and Blak's Lair. We hope that you are learning more about underground and international artists and why they deserve so much more exposure than what they currently receive. In addition, we hope that you too will join us in supporting these wonderful artists and musicians by purchasing their albums and/or attending their performances. We hope to continue our endeavor in 2009, so if you wish to procure more information about new and undiscovered talent, stay tuned to Blak's Lair...
I hope it's not out of line for me to say, this is THE best music blog.
So good in fact, I deleted all my firefox booksmarks, which had nothing but wordpress and blogspot pages. Some expired, some just lacking or jacking content.
I didn't know where to start with Blak's, but I'm glad I found this page.
Cheers!
JL
