Pamela Williams - Sweet Saxations [2005]
Sweet Saxations Link 2
Pamela Williams has created a mood-drenched collection of ballads, R&B inspired grooves and funky dance numbers on Sweet Saxations. Joined by an all-star cast, Williams showcases 11-tracks of mostly original material penned by either herself or writer/producers Dave Darlington (Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson,Chaka Khan) and David Mann (George Michael, Vanessa Williams, Elvis Costello). "Darlington and Mann are just great to work with. We have the best time in the studio together. We get the job done, but always have a blast doing it!" shares Williams. She also enlists label-mate and consummate chart-topper Kim Waters, who also joined Pamela on her Shanachie debut, The Perfect Love. Pamela admits she marvels at Kim’s talent. "Kim’s amazing! He’ll start writing in the studio, then lay down a range of instruments… three hours later he’s got a complete, fully arranged recording!" Waters performs and co-wrote three songs with Dave Darlington, "Fly Away with Me," "Amber Skies" and "The Seduction." He also co-wrote the body-shaking, get on the dance floor number "Uptown" with Pamela Williams and keyboardist Allen Hart.
Highlights on Sweet Saxations include the album’s first single "Fly Away with Me," which showcases Pamela’s agile and edgy saxophone against a percussive and bass heavy funky track, as well as the Alicia Keys hit "You Don’t Know My Name," in which Pamela can be heard singing back-up vocals while taking the lead on alto sax.
Another standout is "I’m Playing For Keeps" a ballad Williams co-wrote with Teena Marie backup singer DeDe O’Neal, who lends her gorgeous honey-toned vocals to the track. Pamela has a personal connection to "Amber Skies," a tender and dreamy number dedicated to her recently-adopted daughter, Amber Skyy.

Pamela Williams - The Perfect Love [2003]
The Perfect Love Link 2
2003 was a great year for female sax players, with Candy Dulfer returning after a four-year hiatus,Mindi Abair revitalizing smooth jazz with It Just Happens That Way, and The Perfect Love, a sensual funk label debut by one of the more underrated performers on the smooth groove scene, Pamela Williams. Shanachie Entertainment is known for its picture-perfect radio hits, and Williams kindly obliges her label with some instantly kick-back and likeable tracks right off the bat. Yet as nice, catchy, and easy grooving as "After Glow" and "Just As We Are" are, there's a sense that Williams is holding back just a bit. Ditto the kindly, sweet-talking "Unconditional," which is one of three songs written by labelmate saxman Kim Waters and very much in tune with his sweet, smoky style. Williams eventually lets loose, however, and the heavier grooves of "Got Me Wrapped Around Your Finger" stimulate some more aggressive playing, backed by some snazzy horns and a dreamy retro vibe. Even more fun but probably too intense for radio is her slamming, slightly bluesy crunch-funk take on Prince's "Sexy M.F." Waters gives her a quick-rolling challenge on the closer, "Whipped," which she more than accepts with constantly powerful bursts of energy. The label also cleverly pairs her with another label great, keyboardist Kevin Toney, whose optimistic keys play off Williams' cool perfectly. Overall, it's a perfectly balanced disc, but listeners who are seduced by the cool might find a more perfect love by the fire.

Pamela Williams - Saxtress [1996]
Saxtress Link 2
Pam Williams is one of those word of artists who comes along every once in a while to shake things up...she is on note with mostly all the smooth jazz saxophonists--the G's, the Koz's, the Braun's--but with a seductress' sensuality. Note: the female version of that bedroom tune "The Secret Garden" with vocal solos by siren Patti Labelle and 'Wild and Peaceful' Teena Marie oozes carnal knowings. The funk hits the air with the title track, "The Saxtress"--it kinda reminds me of some of Tom Scott's work. Plus, it doesn't hurt one iota that she is quite a beauty..."The Saxtress" is smooth jazz for the (jazz) lover in you.
