In spring 2002 the new Wolfgang Haffner Band went on a 25 city - tour across Europe. Without even trying to be bashful about it, this band en route with Haffner,a native from Nuremberg, could just as well be designated a Dream Band when it comes to Groove-Jazz. Multiphonically magnificent the soaring saxophone workby Hungarian top-instrumentalist Tony Lakatos; on loan from the Nils Landgren Funk Unit the authoritative bass voicings from Magnum Coltrane Price; at times thrilling, other times gossamer light, always enchanting the guitar sounds of Dutchman
Peter Tiehuis when his fingers touch down on the strings. Vladislav Sendetzki from Poland comps a sovereign keyboard foundation for the group's sounds, paving the way for vocalist Eddie Greene, who performs brilliantly for example in a soul-seething rendition of that Roy Ayers' classic "Searchin'". Besides the highlights from the repertoire of the last two studio CDs , although here in extended improvisations, on Live & Real"listeners will also find an audio-select version of Miles Davis'standard "Jean Pierre",and naturally all the percussive pyrotechnics of Wolfgang Haffner,global travellerin the world of rhythm.
