This is a significant effort from pioneer smooth jazz artist, Walter Beasley, that was not apparent from a first listen. But, after twice hearing his rousing renditions of Deniece Willliams', "Free".As formula-satisfying as most of his soft, soulful contemporary jazz is, Walter Beasley allows himself the luxury of branching out. On Ready for Love, the alto saxophone veteran goes on his first reggae outing, "She Moves Me," which with its synth trimmings won't sell any package trips to Jamaica, but still should appeal to his fans. Beasley also continues to find his comfort zone as a singer, channeling Curtis Mayfield via singer William DeVaughn and his 1974 hit, "Be Thankful for What You've Got." Beasley's cast of collaborators is large--eight producers are credited--but at this advanced stage in his career, people know what he wants and custom-deliver it to him.

This CD is oh so mellow.This album is a pleasure to listen to. I have almost all of Walter Beasley music and this one is some of his best work.
One of my favorites on this is the title track "For Her".

This CD is for the pleasure of whomever may have the good fortune to pick it and listen and when they do, it'll be pleasure forever. This peice will swing you to the outermost parts of smooth jazz. Take note of the cut that he sings on. His silky voice can be compared to the silky sax sounds that he produces throughout this sensual compilation of jazz excellence." Nice and Easy" is my favourite track, Mr Beasley always gives a heartier performace with the soprano sax, the type of playing you can do nothing but surrender to.
