Chaka Khan - Naughty [1980]

Link 2

The album was produced by the legendary Arif Mardin, who sadly passed away recently. It's solo Chaka, i.e. without Rufus, at her best and this album is especially notable for featuring on background vocals, a very young Whitney Houston (on "Clouds" and "Our Love Is In Danger") and an - at the time - up and coming Luther Vandross (on "Papillon (aka Hot Butterfly)" and "Our Love Is In Danger"). Vandross's voice is particularly noticable on Papillon, which was a big hit for Khan, who was reportedly reluctant to let anyone do her backing vocals but herself. She and Mardin obviously knew talent when they heard it.

Chaka Khan-What Cha' Gonna Do for Me [1981]

Link 2

Ms. Khan's Third Solo Album on Warner Bros. Is Arguably her Best Collaborative Effort with Legendary Producer Arif Mardin. The Repertoire Here Has More of an Overt Nod to Jazz with the Inclusion of "And the Melody Lingers on (Night in Tunisia) which features a Lyrical Tribute to Jazz Heroes and Cameo Appearances from the Late Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock and an "Excerpted" Passage from Charlie Parker. The Biggest Hit on the Charts this Album Produced was "i Know You, I Live You", While the Title Track was Favoured by Many FM Stations at the Time. An Oh So Solid Effort from One of R&b's Greatest Voices.

Chaka Khan - I'm Every Woman/The Best of Chaka Khan [1996]

Link 2

Chaka Khan's biggest hit was I feel for you, which made number two in her American homeland and number one in Britain. I'm every woman, Ain't nobody (with Rufus) and This is my night are among her other classic hits on both sides of the Atlantic.

This compilation is a great introduction to the music of Chaka Khan, but if you enjoy this, also look up Rufus.

Chaka Khan-Come 2 My House [1998]

Link 2

Come 2 My House arrives on the heels of Chaka Khan's heralded live collaboration with the Artist, and while it bears unmistakable marks of the deposed Prince's involvement, it's also more rough and ready than his own New Powersoul, which preceded it by a few months. Chaka sounds inviting--literally so on the title track, which finds her proffering "some really good beer or a glass of wine" in a manner even a teetotaler couldn't resist--but also like nobody's fool. "I'll never open my legs again," she asserts, "unless I'm really sure." With "Tell Me Something Good" and "I'm Every Woman," solid favorites of young fans of the old school, Chaka is back to let us know that the jam is still moving.

Chaka Khan - Funk This [2007]

Chaka Khan's Funk This showcases some of her powerful vocals and most compellings songs to date. In perfect form, Chaka has recorded both new material and covers of some tracks that are near and dear to her heart. This incredible funk album takes us back to Chaka's roots, with much of the feel and instrumentation used in her Rufus days. Includes guest artists Mary J. Blige, Michael McDonald and original Rufus member Tony Maiden.
